Full-Year Curriculum
The Grade R curriculum is built around four interconnected theme-based terms. New concepts are introduced in the Core Concepts book, weaving together Bible, Life Skills, Numeracy, and Literacy. Extra Activity books deepen the foundation, and Phonics books begin in Term 2.
Core Concepts — Term 1
Introduces new concepts for Term 1, linking Bible, Life Skills, Numeracy, and Literacy with art activities. Numbers 1–9.
Core Concepts — Term 2
Continues integrated curriculum. Phonics introduced. Numbers 10–19.
Core Concepts — Term 3
Numeracy progresses to numbers 20–29 alongside continued phonics and literacy development.

Numbers 30–39. Learners consolidate all phonics and literacy skills from across the year.
Extra Activity Books — Terms 1 to 4
~50 pages per term of additional Numeracy and Literacy activities (10 pages per theme) to strengthen Core Concepts.
Phonics — Terms 2, 3 & 4
~50 pages per book. Children learn to read by sounding out letters and combinations already taught — not sight-word memorisation.
Full-Year Curriculum
The Grade 1 curriculum covers all core subjects across four terms. The Maths programme builds a strong foundation through bonds, number formation, and skip counting. The Phonics and Reading programme is entirely phonetic.
Bible — Terms 1 & 2 / Terms 3 & 4
Theme-based content linked to the Life Skills book, creating a connection between science and the Bible. Art activities incorporated throughout.
Life Skills — Terms 1 & 2 / Terms 3 & 4
Used alongside the Bible book — together they create a natural link between science, life skills, and the Bible. Theme-based across all four terms.
Mathematics — Terms 1 to 4
Terms 1–2: bonds, number formation, and skip counting — building a very strong foundation. Terms 3–4: Money, Measurement, Graphs, and Time.
English Phonics / Afrikaans Klanke — Terms 1 to 4
A structured phonetic reading programme. Children learn to read by sounding out letters and combinations they have been taught. 4 books per language.
English Home Language / Afrikaans Huistaal — Terms 1 to 4
Four books per language covering the full home language curriculum for Grade 1. Sold separately per language.
1st Additional Language — Term 4
Covers the additional language as a spoken language and vocabulary building. One book, Term 4 only. Available in English and Afrikaans.
Full-Year Curriculum
A complete Maths and Language programme across two languages. Maths is carefully sequenced from place value and operations through to fractions, decimals, measurement, and graphs. Both Language books include full assessments.

Full language assessments: oral assignments & rubric, creative writing, comprehension, listening comprehension. Written to bring learners to Home Language level by year end.
English Home Language / 1st Additional Language — 2 books
Same assessment scope as Afrikaans books. Brings both Home Language and additional language learners to a strong, confident standard.
